SAFE!

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and they are safe. Sounds familiar? It should, this is an awesome statement that King Solomon made and has reigned true ever since. I must say this though, at first this verse was a farce to me as it is to many others. It was only good in theory but recently it became practical. It was almost as if I was elevated to another dimension once I truly began to give God the place He deserves in my life as "Jehovah Nissi" "The Lord my Banner. He is truly my High Tower against the enemy. He is my shield and buckler. He is my Victor and the Captain over me. He gives me victory over myself in the areas of sin, sickness, poverty and every enemy of my life. Now don't act as if I'm the only one that has tried to avenge myself, fight my own battles, allowed the enemy to sow discord in my mind (especially pertaining to financial matters) and be distracted with a gripping fear of future paths. I hope this doesn't come off as one of those cheesy religious cliché's but I'm sure glad that I'm on God's team. Fear can paralyze a person from trusting God wholeheartedly as it did with me. We are preconditioned to want to control everything and provide for ourselves due to the society we are a part of but when situations are out of our reach and no amount of money can change the outcome of your predicament, God is "Mr. Irrelevant" on the "Let go and trust me list." As I mentioned earlier this whole phenomenon became apart of my life recently when being faced with some real challenges and I closed my eyes and visioned God as a tower of safety. At this point I can honestly say that the cares of this world diminished but the second I opened my eyes the attacks returned so I strongly declared that I will not be shaken and will forever remain in God's arms of refuge; speaking from this standpoint I don't mind pointing out that this side is more palatable. Another thing that the defeated one tried to attack me with is making me feel like a (L7 weeny) because I put my whole trust in God... believe me when i say this "You are more of a man/woman when you can hand God your life and tell Him to do as He pleases with it!"

Totally Complete pt. 2

Often we tend to get caught paying attention and envying someone else’s assignment/ job and mentally attempting to figure out why so and so can do what they do and you can’t. I remember a business man once said “It was not meant for everyone to own businesses, if everyone were business owners, the economy would truly fall apart”…further saying “Who would work/ run the company? This is why employees and every other position are so necessary.” Image if every puzzle piece were cut into identical sizes and shapes, how interesting would it be to complete the puzzle at this point. Now with this being said the interesting part about employees and puzzles is that each piece and position has its individual function but woks together to accomplish one common goal. Christianity is frightenly similar to these examples; we have separate functions in this life but one common goal…To glorify God. We are by default designed to be productive as well as required to live holy, righteous, full of love, etc. ultimately establishing our identity as followers of Christ. I like to think of us as franchise owners; we own the individual establishment but must adhere to the guidelines given by headquarters or else our unit will not perform or produce the results intended by the creator of the enterprise. And when a few units misbehave, the entire institution receives a poor reputation making it almost impossible for expansion into needed areas. The franchises are usually known by a trademark, slogan or symbol which unifies and distinguishes them from the competition (in our case living holy, righteous and full of love is what will join and separate followers of The Most High from the enemy). My question to you is if I asked your co-workers what kind of person are you, would the words associated with holy be included in their description of you? The lesson for this week is: Take care of your God given assignment and don’t bad mouth someone because they have another responsibility that’s not like yours; we must remember that no one’s job is more important than another. When we are in position and manning our task, the rigors of completing a difficult puzzle can be assembled with ease.

Totally Complete pt. 1

Last night I listened to Brother Livingston teach on the "Motivational Gifts of the Church" and began to put the pieces together that have long left me mind boggled. My question is; can a person possess a portion of all the gifts and offices of the body of Christ? Immediately I thought of Jesus. Yeshua came to be the ultimate example as well as the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus touched every fold of the ministry (Eph 4: 11-12) well within His three year run. Jesus also touched every spiritual gift (1Cor 12: 4-11) including the ultimate one called LOVE (1Cor 13). What was revealed to me is of course it is possible to hold a portion of all the gifs and offices in the body of Christ. As a matter of fact it is the most beneficial to God’s glory when we do operate in the fullness of our God given gifts and responsibilities. Apostle Paul began to compare these gifts and offices to a human body; by doing so his illustration illuminates with illustrious understanding. Every part of our mortal body is in some way different than any other member belonging to the same host but works together to establish wellbeing for the person and others. Now the interesting element is that the body can function with out certain members and of course this does not always ensure efficiency or that it is better off with out its member but it can certainly perform or operate as intended. Question; is a person with 10 fingers more efficient than a person with 9? Though the number of digits a person has can never determine their proficiency, one can conclude that the person with more fingers has the ability to be more effective. To take this topic even deeper; think about what is the ultimate equalizer in this case (in other words what is the one component that all members can’t survive without, arbitrarily eliminating the “I’m more important than you” complex). In this case the one thing that each member can not survive without is blood (and of course Oxygen, Water, etc.) and I believe the blood represents the common trait that we as mature believers are to acquire and operate in as we complete our individual functions(to be continued...)

Hell's Most Wanted

Are you hell's most wanted? Is your name on the enemies hit list? Are you the talk of the underground? If not then you might want to check and see if your saved. Do you remember the story in Acts 19 when the sons "went" out (not sent "big difference) preaching and they came across some spirits that were more powerful than they knew. Well this is one of my favorite funny stories in the Bible because it proves what I stated in the beginning; these evil spirit told the sons "Jesus I know, Paul I know but who are you?" and then the demon possessed people jumped on the sons and kicked their rear ends sending them out with a few less articles of clothing than what they came in with LOL. My question is, are you afraid to be attacked by an already defeated foe? You would be amazed at the responses I get when I pose this question " You don't want to go startin nothing with the devil now! just mind your own business and leave well enough alone" the sad part is this response came from a Bible believing believer (HA). I wonder if we will be able to stand in front of all of the Saints that have gone before us that gave their lives and say " I was just minding my own business". I would love to see the response of a Steven or a Paul or a Peter or any of the martyr's. I say if it's not worth your life then its not worth believing in! Is your name on the list.

Slave to Christ = Freedom

True freedom is becoming a slave to Christ. I find this statement more validated as I travel through life. This era that we partake in is somewhat no different than any other that has passed (just new people doing the same old thing). I was once a slave to sin but as my love for God intensified those unwanted chains grew weaker. I pray that our joy can be restored and centered on the Lord like it was intended and not in things or people. The human race is God's greatest resource to exemplify the Heavens above and I believe that we are not too far gone to turn and press toward God and His lifestyle of righteousness. Is it really too difficult to show our appreciation to a wonderful savior for going to the cross for us by giving no room for the enemy in our hearts and daily routine. Let us not be lazy in our approach to show grattitude for the Lord.

May God Receive the Glory

The Five Grounds

The Five Grounds

If you don’t understand this parable it might do you some good to borrow Stevie Wonders eyes, the Scarecrows brain and a snake’s ear. On a more serious note, (Mark 4: 1-20) requires only a willing heart to grasp its meaning. Those of you that have read this parable might say to yourself “there are only four grounds of the heart described by Jesus” and I submit to you that you are correct. After spending a while in deep thought I begin to think “What about the hearts that have never heard the word of God;” these individuals posses a spirit/heart as well don’t they?

Please don’t speed read over this literature because the word of God is ever pregnant and always prepared to give deeper insight.

I always try to understand people and why they behave in the manner they do so that when ordered, God can use my vessel to the utmost for His Glory. Some people frustrate me to no end and others offer a sigh of relief but all in all the good surpasses the bad though more often than not I feel the exact opposite (Pray that my Strength Remain).

Jesus did a great job of describing the condition of man’s heart in Mark chapter 4 but what I want to uncover is the process leading to the (3) bad conditions i.e.(upbringing, environment/neighborhood, exposure to immoral entertainment etc.) and how to truly reach the (1) good ground as well as how to effectively spread the word to the ones (1) who have not heard.

Allow me the opportunity to lay the foundation in the upcoming paragraphs.

We must understand that our life is a sum total of every experience good or bad. With this in mind it is possible to understand why an unstable person can’t remain focused or a sexually abused person has trouble trusting people. Our childhood is as vital to our adulthood as tracks are to a train. There aren’t many people with the three bad heart grounds that can’t trace their life backwards and not find where the problem is. Most times like stated earlier our position in either ground is a result of the household morals and standards in which we were brought up by.

Single parent homes tend to be more prevalent now as opposed to years prior. When I was in elementary school the number of students without a father in the home was around 3 out of 10; those figures are extremely higher now and it’s almost as if fatherlessness has become the unwritten fad. Fathers play such an important role in conditioning the heart and character of a child. “The fruit does not fall far from the tree” is a cliché used for eons and I can not agree with it more.

Presently we see a ton of feminine boys due to women raising men alone. Some women do a great job and others…lets just say “fail miserably.” Some women are too bull headed and strong willed to see how the enemy is using this independent mentality to destroy the home one family at a time and to harden the hearts of the little ones. Granted, most single moms are left with no choice but to raise a family themselves by selfish and immature donors; this I am well aware of being that I am a product of this epidemic.

Our hearts are the core of who we are and what we are capable of doing. Now, parenting breaks down into four categories as well: Horrible, Balanced, Over and No Parenting. If much attention is given to this and the dots were connected, we would see a direct correlation between the conditions of the heart and parenting. I would need to write a book to explain everything in detail but hopefully this will be sufficient for now. (to be continued…..)

The Law of Change

The Law of Change

It is okay to state that the Bible is infallible but it is grossly hazardous to believe that ones understanding of the Bible is foolproof. After spending a few moments of my day watching ministry youtube videos I began to witness people change from one state of understanding to the next. People that I have observed stand on a more than obvious wrong doctrine for a period of time commenced to allow the “Holy Spirit” to do the job of enlightening their conscience.

I know one thing for sure; the pride of not leaving God room for correction is to be as far from me as the farthest star is from earth. I pray that we all can reach a higher level of sensitivity toward “Gods Written Word” as well as His “Spoken Word.” We cannot afford to be trapped in mindsets that were created by the lowest man and not the highest God. What I have gathered over my short span of earth occupancy is that people are more afraid of changing a wrong mindset than they are afraid of a pit-bull with rabies. The extremely sad part is that both are equally dangerous and ending with the same results if left untreated: blind, weak, dumb and dead.

I urge everyone to perform a heart check (if you’re not passed the POINT OF NO RETURN) and ask God to reveal to you the simple truths in His constitution pertaining to your life and the way He requires you to live it. And while you’re at it, do me and yourself a favor and try not to allow immaturity to creep in and steal an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to move mightily.

“Remember; Do not lean unto your own understanding but in all your ways trust in the Lord because the ways of a man seem right in his own eyes but the end thereof leads to death.”

Am I Content…

Am I Content…
Proverbs 30:7-9 (King James Version)
7Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
8Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

After watching the movie “The Book of Eli” I must say that my understanding of this scripture has taken on a new meaning. In this film people were fighting over items that we without hesitation waste today. For example a small tube of shampoo cost someone their life, water was rationed out with a price higher than gold. Another part of this film that rudely slapped me in the face (hand in glove) was how ruthlessly the bad guy wanted the Bible (he truly understood its power); I will save this topic for a later date, make sure you look for it.
My gosh where do I start, I guess I’ll mosey on down this vanity path first. I remember when I struggled with this the most. I gave great effort to this for the most part because I wasn’t affirmed by my father when I was young. So like a ton of fatherless children I sought to be accepted by the things in my possession (the little that I owned). We “Down South” folk call this disease “showing off” but what’s more comical is that most people don’t grasp where this syndrome originates until I or someone else with understanding explains it. Vanity is a very dangerous illness that infects the world at alarming rates and only a hand full of people are attempting to administer the cure.
Vanity is defined: when your self worth is determined by the inanimate things one has or the artificial adornments to the human body. It’s always characterized by a “look at me” mentality and our entertainment world is short handed on making things better. Shucks I wore muscle shirts because I knew people would stare. I’m from Miami guys; I wore loud colors because of the potential compliments that I would receive. My God in heaven, lets not mention church…just know that I owned a pair of artificial snake skin church shoes (enough said). And I was always empty at the suns setting as I was the day prior (Let the Church say…Amen).
Now that’s enough of vanity; I started having flashbacks (my mind is renewed…LOL).
How true is this scripture? King Solomon got a lot of things wrong but he sure split the fly in half with this one. Many people that run into wealth, quickly slide God to the back burner and likewise people that are in poverty doeth the same. Is there a middle ground? If we had all that was necessary to sustain life as we know it, would our relationship with the “Almighty” be different? Could we be content with the position of “Enough?” These are all relevant questions for the inquiring minds waiting to be properly addressed.
The question at hand is: Do you pierce yourself with grief chasing after wealth and popularity (this question is posed to the rich and poor) failing to realize that you have your daily bread?
I guess this is why the Bible states; to truly follow Jesus one must deny himself first.

Dear Lord,

Dear Lord,

As I will to become more opposite of the “popular demand,” our relationship intensifies. I begin to understand that you are more concerned about my mortal life on earth and not my eternal one in heaven. I now comprehend why you desire for me to behave and treat others as you do. I see the benefits of speaking like you. I now fully embrace the thought of thinking as you do. Through the years you have only owned part of me. From what I can recollect, you sustained the position of “Savior” and not “Lord” over this vessel. I am no longer in the passenger or back seat of this automobile I now sit in the trunk and I don’t care where you take me. It’s as if you have poured salt over me and tenderized my heart. No longer do the distractions of this life override your command. I only want to glorify you. I can remember being a citizen of sin; tearing up my green card when I realized that I was a foreigner to that country. I have returned to my homeland and I am your “Ambassador.” Thank you for never leaving me when my faith wavered. I am perpetually grateful for your matchless love. Though this excursion is consistently lonely, my spirit is raised when another heart accepts you and not to mention that my picture is the home page on your iphone. I can't wait until this earth bear a resemblance to the heavens up above but before you do that, allow me more time to filter my people through "Love."

Ceaselessly Yours,
