All or Nothing
My high school football coach did a phenomenal job of imparting long lasting life principles in each player; especially me. One day in practice I made a mistake, which was the only one I had ever made (just kidding). He didn’t get as mad as I thought he would and trust me he could do a pretty good job of it. Just as I began to think about why he didn’t get as mad as he usually does, he started explaining why. He said “The only reason I can excuse this mistake is because you were going 100mph which meant to me that you thought you were doing what was right and gave it your ALL but if you had made the same mistake going 5mph then that’s when I would have chewed your behind because it means you new what you were doing was wrong and yet still went through with it and that is un-acceptable” (Very Powerful).
God desires us to serve Him with ALL of our heart, mind and body.
Deuteronomy 6:4-5:
4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with ALL thine heart, and with ALL thy soul, and with ALL thy might.
Certain things just makes sense to me, the same should apply to the entire universe but common sense is not common to everyone. The question I pose to the Christian and non-Christian is: What is the worst thing that could happen if you do ALL of what God commands in the Bible? My guess is; you will love and treat people right, be blessed beyond imagine and make it to Heaven (WOW Sounds like a deal to me).
Deuteronomy 28
1And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do ALL his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above ALL nations of the earth:
2And ALL these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
The word “ALL” is an inclusive word, it means everything and has no partiality. If I asked someone for ALL of their possessions, does this mean give me some and they keep some “NO” it means everything they have. So why is it when the Word of God states to serve and obey with ALL, we only give a percentage of our life to God and reserve a portion for ourselves (hmmm). It’s amazing how God is such a cut and dry God; what you put in is what you get out and sometimes even more.
Keep in mind that God did not make us robots for a reason. There is no true pleasure receivable from an object that can’t make a decision on its own. God is pleased when His children obey and serve Him with every fiber of their being; wouldn’t you feel good if your child does exactly what was asked just to bless you!
It’s time to decide whose side you’re on. Many generals in the Bible had to chose; remember what the Three Hebrew Boys said before they went into the fiery furnace “ This day make sure it is known that we did not bow down to your false gods nor did we worship the gold image which you have set up.”
The flip side to this is you can choose a wrong side, like the angels that were cast out of Heaven with Lucifer (Rev 12:9)or Judas Iscariot who chose the side he was on for thirty pieces of silver.
“I would rather live like there is a God with ALL my might and die just to find out that there is no God than to live like there is no God and die to find out that there is a God”
Always in Love,
