The Five Grounds

The Five Grounds

If you don’t understand this parable it might do you some good to borrow Stevie Wonders eyes, the Scarecrows brain and a snake’s ear. On a more serious note, (Mark 4: 1-20) requires only a willing heart to grasp its meaning. Those of you that have read this parable might say to yourself “there are only four grounds of the heart described by Jesus” and I submit to you that you are correct. After spending a while in deep thought I begin to think “What about the hearts that have never heard the word of God;” these individuals posses a spirit/heart as well don’t they?

Please don’t speed read over this literature because the word of God is ever pregnant and always prepared to give deeper insight.

I always try to understand people and why they behave in the manner they do so that when ordered, God can use my vessel to the utmost for His Glory. Some people frustrate me to no end and others offer a sigh of relief but all in all the good surpasses the bad though more often than not I feel the exact opposite (Pray that my Strength Remain).

Jesus did a great job of describing the condition of man’s heart in Mark chapter 4 but what I want to uncover is the process leading to the (3) bad conditions i.e.(upbringing, environment/neighborhood, exposure to immoral entertainment etc.) and how to truly reach the (1) good ground as well as how to effectively spread the word to the ones (1) who have not heard.

Allow me the opportunity to lay the foundation in the upcoming paragraphs.

We must understand that our life is a sum total of every experience good or bad. With this in mind it is possible to understand why an unstable person can’t remain focused or a sexually abused person has trouble trusting people. Our childhood is as vital to our adulthood as tracks are to a train. There aren’t many people with the three bad heart grounds that can’t trace their life backwards and not find where the problem is. Most times like stated earlier our position in either ground is a result of the household morals and standards in which we were brought up by.

Single parent homes tend to be more prevalent now as opposed to years prior. When I was in elementary school the number of students without a father in the home was around 3 out of 10; those figures are extremely higher now and it’s almost as if fatherlessness has become the unwritten fad. Fathers play such an important role in conditioning the heart and character of a child. “The fruit does not fall far from the tree” is a cliché used for eons and I can not agree with it more.

Presently we see a ton of feminine boys due to women raising men alone. Some women do a great job and others…lets just say “fail miserably.” Some women are too bull headed and strong willed to see how the enemy is using this independent mentality to destroy the home one family at a time and to harden the hearts of the little ones. Granted, most single moms are left with no choice but to raise a family themselves by selfish and immature donors; this I am well aware of being that I am a product of this epidemic.

Our hearts are the core of who we are and what we are capable of doing. Now, parenting breaks down into four categories as well: Horrible, Balanced, Over and No Parenting. If much attention is given to this and the dots were connected, we would see a direct correlation between the conditions of the heart and parenting. I would need to write a book to explain everything in detail but hopefully this will be sufficient for now. (to be continued…..)

The Law of Change

The Law of Change

It is okay to state that the Bible is infallible but it is grossly hazardous to believe that ones understanding of the Bible is foolproof. After spending a few moments of my day watching ministry youtube videos I began to witness people change from one state of understanding to the next. People that I have observed stand on a more than obvious wrong doctrine for a period of time commenced to allow the “Holy Spirit” to do the job of enlightening their conscience.

I know one thing for sure; the pride of not leaving God room for correction is to be as far from me as the farthest star is from earth. I pray that we all can reach a higher level of sensitivity toward “Gods Written Word” as well as His “Spoken Word.” We cannot afford to be trapped in mindsets that were created by the lowest man and not the highest God. What I have gathered over my short span of earth occupancy is that people are more afraid of changing a wrong mindset than they are afraid of a pit-bull with rabies. The extremely sad part is that both are equally dangerous and ending with the same results if left untreated: blind, weak, dumb and dead.

I urge everyone to perform a heart check (if you’re not passed the POINT OF NO RETURN) and ask God to reveal to you the simple truths in His constitution pertaining to your life and the way He requires you to live it. And while you’re at it, do me and yourself a favor and try not to allow immaturity to creep in and steal an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to move mightily.

“Remember; Do not lean unto your own understanding but in all your ways trust in the Lord because the ways of a man seem right in his own eyes but the end thereof leads to death.”

Am I Content…

Am I Content…
Proverbs 30:7-9 (King James Version)
7Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
8Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

After watching the movie “The Book of Eli” I must say that my understanding of this scripture has taken on a new meaning. In this film people were fighting over items that we without hesitation waste today. For example a small tube of shampoo cost someone their life, water was rationed out with a price higher than gold. Another part of this film that rudely slapped me in the face (hand in glove) was how ruthlessly the bad guy wanted the Bible (he truly understood its power); I will save this topic for a later date, make sure you look for it.
My gosh where do I start, I guess I’ll mosey on down this vanity path first. I remember when I struggled with this the most. I gave great effort to this for the most part because I wasn’t affirmed by my father when I was young. So like a ton of fatherless children I sought to be accepted by the things in my possession (the little that I owned). We “Down South” folk call this disease “showing off” but what’s more comical is that most people don’t grasp where this syndrome originates until I or someone else with understanding explains it. Vanity is a very dangerous illness that infects the world at alarming rates and only a hand full of people are attempting to administer the cure.
Vanity is defined: when your self worth is determined by the inanimate things one has or the artificial adornments to the human body. It’s always characterized by a “look at me” mentality and our entertainment world is short handed on making things better. Shucks I wore muscle shirts because I knew people would stare. I’m from Miami guys; I wore loud colors because of the potential compliments that I would receive. My God in heaven, lets not mention church…just know that I owned a pair of artificial snake skin church shoes (enough said). And I was always empty at the suns setting as I was the day prior (Let the Church say…Amen).
Now that’s enough of vanity; I started having flashbacks (my mind is renewed…LOL).
How true is this scripture? King Solomon got a lot of things wrong but he sure split the fly in half with this one. Many people that run into wealth, quickly slide God to the back burner and likewise people that are in poverty doeth the same. Is there a middle ground? If we had all that was necessary to sustain life as we know it, would our relationship with the “Almighty” be different? Could we be content with the position of “Enough?” These are all relevant questions for the inquiring minds waiting to be properly addressed.
The question at hand is: Do you pierce yourself with grief chasing after wealth and popularity (this question is posed to the rich and poor) failing to realize that you have your daily bread?
I guess this is why the Bible states; to truly follow Jesus one must deny himself first.

Dear Lord,

Dear Lord,

As I will to become more opposite of the “popular demand,” our relationship intensifies. I begin to understand that you are more concerned about my mortal life on earth and not my eternal one in heaven. I now comprehend why you desire for me to behave and treat others as you do. I see the benefits of speaking like you. I now fully embrace the thought of thinking as you do. Through the years you have only owned part of me. From what I can recollect, you sustained the position of “Savior” and not “Lord” over this vessel. I am no longer in the passenger or back seat of this automobile I now sit in the trunk and I don’t care where you take me. It’s as if you have poured salt over me and tenderized my heart. No longer do the distractions of this life override your command. I only want to glorify you. I can remember being a citizen of sin; tearing up my green card when I realized that I was a foreigner to that country. I have returned to my homeland and I am your “Ambassador.” Thank you for never leaving me when my faith wavered. I am perpetually grateful for your matchless love. Though this excursion is consistently lonely, my spirit is raised when another heart accepts you and not to mention that my picture is the home page on your iphone. I can't wait until this earth bear a resemblance to the heavens up above but before you do that, allow me more time to filter my people through "Love."

Ceaselessly Yours,
